BIOGRAPHY NATASHA ROYKA is an American dancer/choreographer living in Canada, who is passionate about movement and creation. She trained in classical ballet and modern (Margot Parsons, Madame Nora Irinova and the Boston Conservatory of Music), danced and taught in Boston before moving to Canada where she continued her classical ballet studies at the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver. Her classical dance training has included teacher training in the Legat technique (Russian) and the Cuban syllabus. Since 1993 Natasha Royka has been creating and performing her own dance works as well as collaborating with other dance artists. Her theatrical dance work includes performances for Dance Kapital (Ottawa) and the Informal Presentations (Quebec City) as well as The Edge (Ottawa), First Night (Kelowna), the Mercury Lounge (Ottawa) and SOCK 'n' BUSKIN theatre's production of the Trojan Women (Ottawa). She has produced and performed in PARALLEL DIMENSIONS (Ottawa), DANSE ALA CARTE (Ottawa) and is now curating and producing the Sanctuary Series which presents artists from Ottawa and away. In 1998 Natasha attended the Choreography Workshop at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Lee, MA and in 1999 the Directing Dance for Camera workshop at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art ( MASS MoCA).
